IRIS PROMISE - A Legacy of Love, Healing, and Service
Honoring a mother’s giving spirit.
Healing through compassion.
A Tribute to Iris Plunkett

From her daughter, Donna Wilson – Founder of Iris Promise
“My mother, Iris Plunkett, was the most extraordinary woman I have ever known.”
Iris lived every day with unwavering faith in God, fierce devotion to her children, and a heart overflowing with compassion. She didn’t just talk about love—she lived it. Through hardship and sacrifice, she taught us how to serve, how to give, and how to walk in faith.
As a young woman, she lost her father and had to leave school early. She moved from Spanish Town to Ocho Rios, where she met my father and began a life of humble, determined service. She worked tirelessly—as a cook, a housekeeper, a caregiver, and above all, a mother.
Each morning before dawn, she would grate 25 coconuts to make oil, feed her chickens and pigs, prepare her children for school, and then head off to work at Shaw Park Guest House. In the evening, she returned home with cakes, cookies, and coconut drops—not just for us, but to share with anyone in need along her walk home. She gave joyfully, without reserve.
Even when my brother and I had to live away from home for school, she made sure we had fresh food and homemade snacks—her love wrapped in every package.
Later in life, she moved to the United States, continuing to care for the elderly and children with the same nurturing heart. Every Christmas, she returned to Jamaica— bringing shoes, clothing, and food to family, friends, and neighbors. Giving was her greatest joy.
She was deeply involved in the church—singing in the Baptist choir, teaching Sunday school, and helping establish the first Baptist Church in Snow Hill, Ocho Rios.
At age 74, we lost her to lung cancer. But her legacy—her faith, discipline, generosity, and unconditional love—lives on in us. She was a fighter. A nurturer. A giver. And a woman who always reminded us:
“When one of us is down, the others must lift them up. Love each other. Give. And never
forget where you come from.”
Iris’ Promise is my promise to her.
It is the continuation of her love, her faith, and her mission to serve those in need.
— Donna Wilson

Who We Are!
Iris Promise is more than a nonprofit—it’s a promise fulfilled.
Born from love and rooted in faith, Iris Promise is a 501(c)(3) charitable organisation based in South Florida and working on the ground in Jamaica.
We bring medical care, education, nutritional support, and supplies directly to underserved individuals in rural communities—especially the elderly and chronically ill.
We serve the forgotten. We care for the suffering. And we do it all in memory of Iris Plunkett—a woman whose legacy lives in every act of kindness we give.
What Drives Us?
At Iris Promise, our mission is deeply personal. Donna Wilson, our founder and a nurse by profession, created this organization after witnessing the overwhelming need during a medical outreach in Jamaica in early 2025.
What began as a single clinic has become a movement of love, health, and service.
